Correspondence, 1850-1852.

Consists primarily of letters written by family and friends to Carr and his brother Rufus, both of whom had gone to California in search of gold, but also including several descriptive letters written by Joseph from San Francisco, Valparaiso, and Tome, Chile, and from Edward Kent, U. S. consul at Rio de Janeiro regarding Joseph's death, which occured on the way home.
